So since this is my first praying mantis, i wanted to study it as well. I am making this blog for Bugsey, picked a name out already ^_^, and i figured I would share it with you guys. I do appreciate all the warm welcomes I have gotten, I am a bit nervous as some know. Its been awhile since I have had a new pet, and i suffer from anxiety and depression so I am contently worried I will do something wrong. I have always been fascinated with praying mantis's, even when I was a little kid. And hope to have this be a regular thing for me, i raised them apparently when i was a kid and got an egg sack and put them in the garden. Unfortunately we never saw any of them. But that's nature for you, i should have it coming in the mail tomorrow. I spent over half an hour on the phone with the USPS to ask them to hold onto it so its not in the cold, i actually asked off work for tomorrow. But i wasn't able to get it, when I get a new pet I am dedicated haha. I have done several hours studying on what it needs. I will be doing the dairy container it has and putting a paper towel in it, I have a critter cage for when it gets older. Its usually 67,68 to 72 or 73 in the house. Tho i will be keeping my door closed.

If i have asked some of you several questions i do apologize, i do have problems with self confidence and self esteem. And I want to make sure it doesn't die on my first try. I also worry about judgment on here if somehow it dosen't survive. I have always loved animals more then people due to being teased and tormented in high school. But anyway enough of my past. This is a blog I made for bugsey. And since you all seem very respectable bug owners I wanted to share it with you guys.

Very nicely set up blog, can't wait to see some posts! :)  I actually have my own blog set up with this same website, allaboutinsectsblog.blogspot.com, I usually share my new posts in the "Other insects and invertebrates" section of the forum.

We only learn by doing. Most of us learn well by making mistakes. Some need the same mistakes a few times before they learn. One of my current goals is to make a NEW mistake each day.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I do not think anyone here will judge another harshly for most any reason. Try to correct mistakes or answer questions, sure. The only way I would judge anyone harshly is if they were just torturing mantis they have or come across.

So, please relax a bit and enjoy sharing part of your journey with an amazing insect.

@Jessie

It's okay, from what I've seen around here, this is a pretty laid back community. ^-^ Anyway, I wish you the best of luck with Bugsey- he's absolutely adorable, you must be so pleased!

On a side note, that's why I never handle George for more than a few minutes at a time; she jumped on the ground outside once and the experience left me traumatized. I let her on my hand to watch TV every few days though, I just can't resist that wiggle dance!

I still freak out whenever she gets hyper, though.
