species are making northward range expansionsHI just to help out
those aren't regal jumpers (P.Regius)
but rather P. Audax
or bold/or daring jumping spiders
'regals' are more southern US
(and females arent black that i am aware of or have seen)
Someone might expect them to grow up and have the more varied reguis colors
which of course they wont
even the orange spot audax juveniles lose the orange 'heart' spot
and grow up to be white spots as well
Ive pretty good exposure/experience with them nearby here in Ohio
And have bred P. Audax over the last 3 years
Ive this year released about 35 -all with hatched babies still in there sacs
I place the entire enclosure in safe area's with lid propped open about an inch
and rain cover
-they slowly disperse over the next few weeks-
this was much earlier in the year of course
then i regather the enclosures for re-use
