This afternoon my adult male Idolomantis has been extremely active.....moving around his cage alot compared to his normally sationary posture. He is well fed, the cage is sprayed daily and he is heated with a spot light. Its been about 3 and a half weeks since my female shed to adult and 2 weeks since the male, I was wondering if she is maybe releasing pheremones which are stimulating the male??

thanks

Alan

maybe he just has the horn?

but seriously, i think thats a fair explanation (the female being nearby). maybe he's just "ready" and is wandering about looking for someone. are you supposed to wait longer with idolomantis (in terms of sexual maturity)? just wondering, ive never kept them.

Well I've never bred them before so not sure either....perhaps some of the more experienced keepers might have some ideas?

Cheers

Alan

i reckon your right about the pheremones. those big antennae must do something. put them together

i dont think they are that canabalistic if shes not ready to mate
