Hello! I'm located in Kentucky USA, and I am new to mantids. I wasn't expecting to have a pet mantis, but a little while ago one appeared on my bedroom wall, so I made a little home for it. Very excited to learn more about the mantis world! I've always wanted to raise one, could not pass up this opportunity. I have a Dynastes tityus beetle larva, as well as some unidentified flower beetles. I somehow just keep ending up with more bugs!

Thank you! Awesome, I'm a first timer with beetles too. That larva is getting big very quickly!

I don't know for sure, likely a Chinese mantis, as those are pretty prolific around here, but it could be one of three varieties (European mantid, Carolina mantid, Chinese Mantid) found in this area (central KY).
