The "experiment" is internal. The mantises are pets to care for, enjoy, maintain inter-generational, and if possible, improve. They are the external stimulus.

Ah, even better then. I know some that do study/research/etc merely perceived them as specimens/subjects and do not consider them pets.

Off topic not by a long shot, you should see some of the posts on here, as long as the author has no issue about the posts anything seems to go.
