Very nice shots! I have to agree with Ismart and go with Tetramorium caespitum , the Pavement ant. They produce huge colonies which are very agressive towards one another. Sidewalk wars are very common with this species on the Northeastern quarter of the US. Fortunately, no fire ants, native or imported, are to be found in the wild in PA.
