Its just beyond me how you can use all these networks and stay in balance, I have friends who try yet they never have time for anything else. When your trying to play with your kids and stay on twitter and FB on your phone somethings wrong.........My only point is we are becoming a mass population of anti social people.
I work at home, I have no kids and I'm an anti-social person :)

By the way I'm a photo addict and social media like IG is great (if you choose who you are following, why you're on IG and what is your goal) as FB is great if you can manage it in a smart way.

By the way, beeing a social network geek is not a conflict with my 2 dogs, 1 cat, 8 rats, 1 hamster, 20 fishtank, 1 mantis and a domesticated hubby ;)

Very true Im sure some manage just fine, and I hope you take no offense from my anti social comment but technolgy in the last 10-15 yrs has absolutely created a trend that is keeping more and more people at home behind a computer or phone rather than interacting in the real world.

I am on FB, here, and an arachnid board plus I have email thats about it but I make sure and limit it all. I just dont want to add to the trend thats keeping more and more kids from spending thier free time outside like I did. I ditched our TV's a few years ago when I saw my daughter start running to it rather than the door.

I was serious when I said I'm an anti-social. I can be friendly on MF, I'm not in real life. I have bipolar disorder and I suffer from social phobias. I'm more comfortable with my pets than with human.

Social media like FB allow me to keep in touch with my friends (specially friends not living in Switzerland), I'm more comfortable with the writing than with talking. The exception is for my husband, he knows me since 10 days and he understands how I work.

I've tried to go to photography lessons with real people, it was a big fail... I only go to my aquariophilia club once per week, that's my only social contact (except in shops of for a coffee in the only one café I can go).

For me, social media is really more than just a social media, it is useful to have contact with people even through a screen. I understand it can be weird for someone with a normal social behaviour ;)

In the end it's all about "to each his(or her)own", you are what you are, and you do what you do, no one can tell you who to be or how to act once your adult, but to me it is important for younger more impressionable minds to get out there and try to see the world with there own eyes not through a cell phone/computer screen and make spontaneous decisions that help them become a better more independent person as a adult, not just doing like all the other kids do and say.

Meluzynn just because you don't want to be around a lot of people doesn't make you weird one bit, I think we all feel that way from time to time I mean com'on people can be really annoying, hurtful, rude, and just plain mean, but maybe going to things like the movies or a darkened pub even a zoo would help you be around people without a need to talk to them directly if you chose, kind of like ease your way into it on your terms, just a thought, I'm probably way off base, what do I know right...but either way I still love the photos you shared of Switzerland in a earlier post, they were truly amazing! :)

I totally agree with that !

Well, I don't really like people...XD

But about my picture you can see some I shared on IG in the link in my signature ;)

Mezulynn, i am the same way. i have social anxiety, and i dont like to be around people. people tend to be loud, rude, and annoying as angelofdeathzz said. he also mentioned great places to go and not have to interact with people directly. i have become quite the movie buff. but staying home and entertaining myself is basically what i prefer to do. movies, mantids, and my other hobbies! ;) do what makes you happy!

I am EXTREMELY anti-social, as i have never really associated social interaction with normal life (there was a point where i couldnt have anyways but now i am able but still just havent learned how to)

People tire me out

If i spend an hour talking to someone im pooped and i dont wanna see anybodys face again for like a week

I only get along with babies and little kids cause they really cant harm me and i dont really trust most people over age 10

I am unable to sit still or make eye contact in social situations, i often twitch, and half of what i say is either too gross or too "out there" deep thinking basis stuff and nobody is able to handle it

So in most social interactions i resort to hugging and doodling (which gets me in trouble in history and chemistry class sometimes)

Also i do fine with animals cause it doesnt require much effort to interact with an animal

And im a cuteness addict

I just pooped, but I thought I'd share it here, first. Now I'm off to update my facebook, tweet about it and post a pic on instagram. I hope I get a lot of "likes". Social media is not for me. And why do I keep getting FB emails saying "you might know this person"? Just because they are a firend of someone I have as a friend. Most people suck and even 1 degree of separation is major when dealing with friends of friends. Like yeah, I want to be friends with that tranny crack addict that sells whatever he/she's got to make rent. No thank you.
