I'm in search of these aluminum vent-like things for some enclosure projects I'm doing. I'm trying to find them online but I keep getting air conditioning vents...

They look like tweeter and mid-range covers??? Just hot glue some screen mesh and call it even maybe, not as nice but does what you need?

uuse kitchen strainers for sinks maybe. Those look like panel box plugs i use for electrical work with mesh on them.

I tried looking for those mesh lids at home depot and lowes but they only come with sink aerators. It is seriously annoying that I can't find the little things that I need haha. I'm also looking for these acrylic containers with the deep lids, but the dollar stores and Wal-mart doesnt carry them. I'm surprised that Hobby Lobby doesn't even carry any. I found a couple but the don't have the deep lids like I want. I don't mind buying them online but I'd rather just go to the store and get them conveniently. If anyone can find where I can get these please let me know.

Those are the same containers I display mantids in at Bugfest. I've had them for years but will try to remember where I got them.

**EDIT:

here is where I got mine. They may or may not be exactly what you have there. Yours may be a little different:

I don't if you have a craft store by you like "Michael's or AC Moore" but they should have things like that.

Ouch they are expensive...
The case price really isn't bad. But you may not need so many. I was lucky in that mine were given to me by the museum. They don't do stuff like that anymore though.....

They are called AMAC Boxes, we have used them for yrs for arachnids. They are great as you can cut out holes in them with a holesaw bit and pop in vents.

I used to have a wholoesale account with the AMAC Plastics company but we quit ordering in such bulk after we had what we needed.

We used to include them as ready made housing when we vended Avics and other Arachnids at shows.

And be carefull the slightest bump or dropping of them busts them up pretty good. They are great to have but fragile.

You can probably find them at collector's/memorabilia stores. They look like those cases people display signed footballs and stuff in. In fact, if you run a google image search for "Beanie Baby Box" those look similar and they do come in different sizes. I don't know what part of California you are located, but Frank & Son would definitely have them (http://www.frankandsonshow.net/).
