BABY SCORPIONS!!!

*Fluffy* - my H.Spinifer scorpion... HAS JUST GIVEN BIRTH!!! To be honest, I've been leaving them to do their own thing for the last few weeks (throwing in the occasional locust) so I don't know how old they are but they're still in their white stage (so pre-first moult)... but I checked on them today and there they are... SO CUTE!!! (can you tell I'm a little excited )

I checked because I was going to change their enclosure a bit - they're quite happily living in those tough cardboardy things you often find electrical goods in but I think I'll leave them to it for now...

And I MIGHT have been mistaken but it looked like BOTH ladies had babies on their backs... - I'll check when they're older...

BABIES!!! YAY!!!

and the really strange thing is that I have never dreamed about scorpions before but last night I actually dreamed that they gave birth - kinda why I thought about looking today - freaky huh!

p.s. I'll post pics when they're older and fending for themselves (so won't be eaten)

Man, that's weird how you predicted that kinda.

I think I heard of omeone else one this forum doing that, andalthough I don't dream about it the previous night, I can leave an ootheca for weeks and then check it and find mantis are hatching (so they havn't ben htere for long).

Maybe they give of a pheromone which attracts humans to reminds us that they're born and to feed them lol, jk.

But who knows, bit like the twilight zone sorta stuff.

well two have died already I figure there are about 15 on her back- all about 3 days old or so. Mum still hasn't found out - she'd kill me... dad knows (gotta love him!)... But yeah, 2 fell off her back, and she just left them- they're pretty much helpless at this stage...

Never had any luck rearing scorpions from babies. All just seem to die one after the other.

UPDATE!!!

ALL the first female's babies died

BUT!!!

I checked today and *Snuggles* had babies too!!! they've been in there for a month or so and are now over 1.5 inches long!!! - YAY!!!

THIRD UPDATE!!!

I got annoyed with the crix that i had fed my T's last night (they're in my room and they were chirping) - so I thought I'd take them out and feed them to the scorplings in the *bug room*... I opened the lid and I saw at least 5 baby scorplings all tucking into a locust i'd put in there! - it was so cute! - they were all huddled around this one locust in a sort of communal feeding frenzy!

Anyway, they're about 2 inches long now so looking good
