Best way to induce threat pose?

I have seen many Pseu. wahlbergii doing threat pose, especially the skittish one when cornered. Touching the abdomen from behind could also provoke such threat pose, the element of surprise is important to trigger it.

Idolomantis is the second most common species for me to show threat pose.

No, you can get a treat pose from any stage. It just happens more often from older mantids.
