Black ooth

One of the ooths I purchased about a month ago has turned black and basically crumbles when touched. The weird thing is I noticed is 2 small blacks wasps (3/16”) in the container with the ooth. The vent mesh is too fine for them to get in, so I suspect the small black wasps were in the ooth all along.

Has anyone else had this experience? Is there anything that can be done to avoid this in the future.

There are species of wasps that lay their eggs in ooths.

You should contact the person you got the ooths from, and ask him/her about it. What species is it?
