I would make a joke about why they are called "cockroach" but that would be in bad taste. I won't even say anything about it being ribbed for her pleasure.

In actuality this is an ootheca that is normally kept internally. They even hatch inside the mother so it looks like they birth live young. Not exactly, but close enough. Every now and then they air them out. I don't know why. Probably just to freak everybody out - it's like a party trick. "Hey everybody, watch me prolapse my innards!"

Try it at the next party you go to. I'm sure you will get a huge response. :D

They push them out for mating, after the eggs are fertilized they pull it back to their body to incubate. (as far as I know)They push them out, nad the joung immediately hatch out, so you cant see the cocoon itself...i never did. :)
