Concerning the breeding of dubias, I have a 7 gallon tank with egg cartons, etc, the whole 9 yards. I’ve read online that between 1:3 and 1:7 is a good male:female ratio. I was thinking about going with 1:5. I’m only getting about eighteen or so to have a small colony.

My question is concerning the placement of the heating pad I bought. Would it be best to go on the side of the tank or the bottom? My research online has told me that either one works, but I wanted some feedback from you guys.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Hey ausar318,

Dubia roaches will grow faster and mature the warmer it is, and wont be harmed if its as warm as 100 degrees, so I'd recomend that you put it on the bottom. As long as long as they dont dry out they should be happy and happy and breeding for you in no time.
