Calling after mating?

Most of mine usually stop after a successful mating then lay an ooth and will start calling again in maybe a week or two but  I have had more than one female continue to call right up until they lay regardless of how many times she has been mated.

I never paid much attention to this "calling" behavior. Mantids can mate multiple times. I don't know the specifics of how the eggs are fertilized but it would make sense to mate with many males to increase genetic diversity.

Yes, she will still be receptive even if she has stopped calling after a sucessful mating so you can mate her multiple times with several different males before she lays her ooth. Once she lays it usually takes at least a week before she starts calling again. I leave her be for that first week and wait until she shows signs of being receptive before attempting to mate her again (mainly for the safety of the male.)
