Ok,this may be of little surprise to the users on this forum, but I have to say it anyway.Only had the little H.Grandis a week, and I'm hooked.

Im not going to jump in the deep end after dipping my toe in,but the temptation to get another species or two is already high.

If anybody here would like to recommend another mantis species for me,I'm open to suggestions.Deroplatys look nice, but im open to some of the more unusual and uncommon types (at least by reptile shop and internet order standards).

Anyone who can help me locate where to obtain some in the UK would also be appreciated.Perhaps there is someone here close to my region with nymphs (hopeful grin) :D

Well, if you want an exotic looking species which is easy care, and low maintainance, I can reccomend the Pseudocreobotra and Creobroter species. Not only do these look fab (some of the nicest colours found in mantids), but they are as easy to keep as something like a Sphodromantis. They like to be a little warmer, and spraying once a week won't go a miss. But these are definately some species to think about.

I will have some Pseudocreobotra for sale soon, and if you are interested, then maybe some Creobroter. For more info on these species check out some care sheets I wrote up, at www.insectstore.com/pseudocreobotra.php and www.insectstore.com/creobroter.php

Any of the African ones are very easy to keep. They have the typical mantis look but I really like them. Ghost mantids are another one that comes to mind.

i really liked the budwing mantids they look so ferocious even when just born. I had some from yen and they were very strong. They also looked cool when i first got them they were black with red stripes on their claws then when they become adults they completley change and then they look kind of like a leafe mimic (i thought atleast) and it looks like they have camo on there face. My ooths from it just hatched i might be selling some i got so many...and thats just the first ooth seconds due soon
