I'm trying to breed my Chinese mantises for the first time, and I'm having some troubles. I read the article about making sure they are at least a couple weeks old before mating, having them on a flat surface, etc, and I've been doing all of that to no avail. I've lost track of how long the male has been an adult, but I would guess him to be a little over five weeks old. The female is 3 weeks old, as of today. I've tried mating them on 4 or 5 different occasions (pretty much if I have nothing else to do I try it lol) and the male has tried to mount the female around 10 times. Each time (except one) she FREAKS out and then after a moment or two of struggling he flies off. One time he sat on her for a good 8 seconds before she flipped out. I was so disappointed inch: Does anyone have any tips or tricks? I haven't tried feeding her during the process yet because if she isn't moving around he tends to get distracted and forget the task at hand.
