Deroplatys lobata, L2 - L6 photos

Here are photos of my Deroplatys lobata from each stage since I've gotten them (which was at L2, from Aryia). There's Derotor, Platysil and Lobataton. But much to my dismay I accidentally killed Lobataton by leaving her in the sun for too long. The other ones were okay with it but she just couldn't handle it I guess. I'm so disappointed and feel horrible about it. I've never had a mantid die that way before. It must be because this species is native to Malaysia, I've never had ones from there before, only Africa or the USA. Malaysian species mustn't be as resilient towards the heat as African or USA species. I've learned my lesson. So Lobataton died at L5, the others just recently molted to L6. I've got a male and a female! Derotor is male and Platysil is female.

They're still at L3 and L4!? Lol. I feed mine about every three days, how often do you feed yours? I only give them about a maggot every three days. If not one maggot then two flies because flies dont seem to be as filling. Do you not give them a lamp? maybe mine are growing faster cause i provide heat as well (not heat from the sun though because of what happened to Lobataton, just a lamp).Edit: oh and thanks! wouldnt have them if it werent for you!

I still have mine on hydei cause I've been having a serious BBF shortage. My larger mantises have been gobbling them up faster than I can re-order lol, they should speed up after I switch them. I'm saving on my electricity bill so no heating unless strictly required, though the hot end of the ball python rack is close to them which is kept at 90 degF. Those snakes and my fish are just cranking my electricity bill up x.x

Oooh i see, that would be why then! haha my big ones are always hungry too, big eaters. Oh i see, i live with my parents so i dont really have to worry about any bills currently. Good luck with all your bills! lol
