Did my mantis elective today

So I did my mantis elective in school today. I couldn't really go as in-depth as i wanted to [with names like chaeteesidae, amorphoscelidae, etc.] because some of the kids in my class have the attention spans of squirrels. Barely anyone except my 2 friends paid attention. And when one of the 8th graders came into the room to store her cake, everyone got up and just walked away. Well, I guess all of my hard work was for nothing At least my teacher understood why I didn't go in depth.

I would have listened I'm sure it was good any way (don't be disheartened by people who don't share your interests) in the long run it does not matter a single bit. Squirrels are stupid anyway

+1 ...kids nowadays (mainly the stupid squirrel ones) are only into social networking stuffs and could care less about a bug( they'd probably squish it), like maybon said, dont let it fog your passion for mantids; squirrels just dont understand the meaning/importance about caring for nature... inch: :rockon: -Andrew

I bounce around from one exotic hobby to another, and I get the EXACT same treatment as you. The only way I keep up with that "technology boom" is through my notebook laptop, from which I am typing now, as well as my I Pod Touch 3.

In reality, however, WE are the ones that have something spontaneous to do with our lives.

I have Facebook, but I could at least live without it. Also have an iPod and computer, which I again could live withou. I don't understand how these kids couldn't live without tech

i brought a popa to school and a girl almost fainted

then the principal told me not to bring mantises to school again

they dont understand dynamics of insect hobby stuff

they care only abt txting and sports ###### and dont appreciate the beauty of insects

i brought a luna moth to school and in the cage it was having trouble climbing the plastic walls and the lid had a little hole in it so i wanted to use that to hold a colored pencil so it could climb to the lid but everyone thought i was trying to kill it with a pencil <_<

and then they ask stupid questions abt insect stuff and whenever i try to answer them (as simply as possible first) they ask more questions then i go into more detail and they get confused

Strange, when I did a praying mantis speech in my speech class everyone loved it, since it was way more interesting than most of the other topics people came up with. :stuart:

Then again I did keep things simple and go with the more interesting facts. Big old scientific names and terms bore me to tears too.

Like there is this squirrel (Popular girl) that sits next to me in Algebra. Her neme is Maddie. She is pretty but DUMB. Since the first day of school we sat next to each other but then after we switched seats for 1 week she says "Who is Alex again" I bothered to remember her name why did she not do it to mine

Don't feel bad like you said she is dumb . Some people (me included) need to hear/say a name over 50 times before they can remember it... I am so very very bad at this it took me like a month to call my gf the right name haha . Thankfully she did not take it personally and didn't crack the sads with me.

Oh yeah and I have friends who I need to be reminded of their names lol, loosely connected friends of course. So it may be she was like who is alex and someone answered and she may have been like oh that sexy stud unk:
