Hi! So I just got home with a rhombodera basalis. The store I went to had an orchid nymph and a sub adult violin, but I decided to go for something a bit more simple. I am however dreaming of owning and breeding orchids, but I've been discouraged by someone on another forum who kept saying the orchids are super hard to keep etc. So I decided to ask somewhere where there are more experienced keepers. Do you guys really think orchids are that hard to keep? With a thermostat and good humidity they shouldn't be expert level, right? My first mantid, a hierodula majuscula, is doing great and my feeders are thriving so I feel like I must be doing something right.

Orchids are not hard to keep AT ALL. I do not have a thermometer or a humidity checker. I just feed them and spray every few days and they seem to do fine. Breeding is the hard part. Btw where do you live? Never heard of a store with mantis!

I live in Sweden, there's a reptile shop about 40 min drive from me where they sell lizards, snakes, tarantulas etc! The guy I was talking to on another forum was like "oh no don't get an orchid yet this is my 13th mantid practice with easier species" first but like??? My mantids are living the good life man
