email notifications

Can anyone tell me how to turn on email notifications when my posts are answered etc? I can't for the life of me seem to find it in my profile.....

Click on the notifications icon that is in between the mail icon and your username near the top of the screen. Then click on options. About half way down you find private messages

Hmmm...Thanks Tammy. I have all of them selected correctly but am still not emailed when someone responds to my posts?

I have clicked the follow topic button and dont get notifications either. I do get notice when I am PMed though.

I'll try that, but if I start the topic I should automatically get notified when there is a response. That doesn't happen.

Just checked.....it tells me I am following the topic already...

I was thinking you were talking about private messages.

What mail system are you using and what antivirus software? I found that Norton was flagging messages from mantidforum as spam and putting them in my spam folder in outlook.

Outlook express and it's a microsoft anti virus program.....I'm not aware I have a spam folder...

It's been so long since I used Outlook Express that I can't recall if it has a junk/spam folder. But since you are getting notifications from private messages, then this probably isn't the issue then since the notifications come from the same email address.

If you are following a topic and you have this box checked for email in your notification preferences, then I'm not sure what is causing the problem.

Darn.

I belong to alot of forums for various things and I get all of those messages? There isn't a spam folder in Outlook Express. Not the way mine is set up anyway.

Have you logged in and out today? I don't know if that makes a difference.

When you clicked to follow this thread, can you confirm you have it set to notify you instantly? I'm pretty sure that is the default, but there is an offline, daily and weekly option. You would have had to check one of those options though.
