I want to get some of these, but I'm a bit worried about killing them. Apparently they need a diapause at the subadult stage. Does anyone know what that entails? Any other tips to keeping them?

Do you know the IGM?

Some need it some don't. I you do diapause them do it at sub for about 2 months.

I would not recommend these for casual keepers because they are so rare now and they are exceedingly hard to breed.

The ooth needs diapause or the mantid? if its the mantid then thats weird.

The sub adult mantid. They need to be kept at about 50 degrees for 2 months to diapause.

They're wild caught according to what I know.

Lol gripen! I know cool spot but I read it needed 50 degrees lol I j ow my house doesn't hit that unless its mid winter. Isn't empusa presiota (sp?) from Spain and Portugal with some coming from Italy. I read that somewhere although I can't remember where. Maybe wiki and that's about as reliable as... Who knows lol

I need to verify this but I think they are the south-western counterpart to fasciata. The ones that need diapause come from the canaries.

Lol if they go into diapause.... Where the heck am I going to find a place that is a consistent 50 degrees when it's an average of 103 here in the summer lol
