Okay so I found a wild male and female European mantids and I'm trying to mate them. Like before when I had Chinese, the male would get one but never connect. This male is doing the same. He's tried but never actually connects. It seems like this is always happening to me and I'm not sure why

Do you know how old they are? If you found them both out in the wild recently then the female may have already mated in the wild right before you found her. Usually mantis only mate a few times in their lives. If you could provide a picture that would help.
Okay, and ya it's near the end for wild mantids as it is getting really cold. I actually thought that there wouldn't be any until this female. I found the male at sub adult so he hasn't mated at all, but the female probably has. She isn't trying to eat humor get him off, she actually caught a fly while him on so idk @Connor
