I can see why you call it that with it's chemical defense. I had to look it up, as thankfully we don't have them coming into our home. ;)

Is this something you are keeping or simply a pest? I ask as I could see it going either way. :D

 
Oh man I love these, I really wish we had these here in Idaho! You're gonna keep it, right? If you want to breed them you'll need mud in the enclosure, the females lay eggs in little mud cells that are attached to the undersides of smooth leaves. The larva of these look pretty freaking awesome, there is nothing else like them! :D

Whoah! I just looked them up and saw a larvae, they look like beetle and larvae mixed together, but more on the side of a beetle!

Well next time you see some you should try to keep them, ground beetles, especially cool looking ones like these, make great and entertaining pets! :)  Galerita are one of the coolest genera in North America in my opinion, they are just so unique! :D
