First Mating Attempt...oh dear!

We unsuccessfully attempted to mate our Sphodromantis viridis today...oh dear! However, having read all the advice on here we called a halt to the proceedings and will try again in a few days. We thought you might like to see the photo's (they are quite comical and we think there could be some funny captions for them):

NB. No mantids were injured in the taking of these photos :lol:

The 'oh ######, she noticed me I'm so gonna die now' look on the males when the females look at them is always comical. Except when they really die of course.

Oh yes indeed and he was clever enough to run away when he realised she was eating something the same size as him!!

This is how its going be for me when I try to breed my giant asians for the first time as just gave one female a look at a male adult but they were like less a week old and the female was like the male was take out dinner!
