Food for L4/5 Chinese Praying Mantids

Hi all,

I have two L4 praying mantids and one L5 praying mantis. They seem to be outgrowing the D. Hydei flies I have. What would the next logical food source be? Blue bottle flies?

Yes Blue bottle flies are great for L4 and L5 Chinese mantises. They love them at that age!

Any thoughts on where to get a culture of them?

You don’t get cultures you buy pupae. Check you MantidKingdom.

Order is on the way. Do you just put the pupae in the bottom of the enclosures and let them come out there?

that's the best way of doing it if u dont want flies escaping. Keep the pupae in the refrigerator if you dont want them to hatch. Dont put too many in, just put in 2 or 3 depending on how often ur planning on feeding.
