i'd say either stagmo carolina or iris oratoria
You can differentiate species based on how dark it is? I wouldn't think that would be reliable since ooths darken over time. This ooth is definitely Stagmomantis sp. Iris sp. looks different enough to tell them apart.

That may be true but it is not a reliable indicator to differentiate species is what I am saying. If you have two Stagmomantis sp. together and want to know which one is S. limbata sure, but otherwise no.
