I posted this video in youtube a long time ago, featuring a praying-mantis i had last year. It's a unique behavior which i never saw before. 2 grasshoppers, one in each claw. Unfortunately i didn't see how this started. When i went to see how my mantis was, she had captured 2 bugs at the same time so i quickly picked up my camera and started filming.

directly copied from the video notes:

"No, it's not a starving praying-mantis, i give him 2 or 3 grasshoppers per day. I've already seen a praying-mantis letting go one bug to catch another but this never. Am i the only one who has ever seen such behavior?

Note: Modified for a work, more scenes and a funny music for the action lol"

My baby Rhombodera basalis would catch multiple fruit flies in a feeding. They'll catch one, start chewing it, catch another and sometimes have up to four being eaten at once!

Nice! It's not an uncommon behavior then. It should be interesting to watch them catching another bug just with one claw

No, it isn't uncommon. They can do it. Though a mantis with only one front leg will often miss when trying to catch food.
