Our pet ghost has molted into an adult!!!  Since we have not had a ghost do this yet, I want to make sure this looks okay. Are his wings supposed to be open?!?!?  Or does this mean something is wrong?!?!?  Not going to lie, I have been on the verge of tears and my anxiety is off the charts.  He is our special needs fella and has required more time than most.  The thought of him not being okay is not okay.    :(

Whenever a mantis molts to adult, it’s wings are always a little messy at first. Usually by the next day (or the evening, if the molt was in the morning) their wings will straighten out. If they do not look good after 24 hours, it may have been a slight mismolt, but if it’s only the wings, it should be alright

This is a pic of one of my Chinese males, who molted on Tuesday. I saw him right as he left the shell, so his wings are still basically buds, since they haven’t opened up yet. His wings were full and perfect about ten hours after he molted

Thank you!    :)  Your male Chinese is gorgeous!!!

I have been watching Casper and his wings are not as puffy now.  His beauty is breathtaking!!!

Thanks!

His name is Casper? That gave me a good laugh. It’s a perfect name for a Ghost mantis ?

I think I might be ordering a couple ghosts here in a little bit, so I’m pretty excited. Are they as easy to keep as everyone says?

Gratz on the good molt. those wings are normal. they get their shape later. Can you show us a better picture of Casper of how he looks now?

:)  Yeah that is a perfectly normal molt!  He is handsome! And @ausar318 your green Tenodera is a beauty!
