I am considering getting a giant shield mantis. I am going to keep in in this deli cup with mesh on top and all sides. I am going to keep a wet paper towel on bottom that is soaked at all times for humidity. Will it be enough humidity for good molts I need suggestions or is the mesh top not good?View attachment 6261View attachment 6264

Looks good, but I'd watch for mold and make sure you have good ventilation.

I like it too, it is only good for a short time as the mantis is going to need more room for molting.

I've had males molt adult in 32oz cups without issue. Females I move at subadult into something larger.

I have never had any problem in those deli cups. Poly lids, no vents cut into cups.

But mine is not a poly lid. It has a hole cut into the entire top of the lid and i glued mesh on the top. Is that ok for humidity?

Yeah. Provided your substrate is releasing humidity, very ventilated is fine.

My substrate is a paper towel completely soaked and wet so it will be releasing moisture into the air at all times. Is that good?

Sure. I use paper towel a lot. No issues.
