This one has an unusual shade of GREEN. Only one of this color out of all the siblings.

Do mantis change color to match/according to environment or is it purely genes?

Is that one of the nymphs I got you a while back? I think I mentioned they were extra green? Simply Beautiful!

Yeah Nick, these are the ones you gave me. I checked again and I see that i have 2 green and 1 light yellowish green one. Very cool!

They can sometimes change to match their surrounding when they molt. i have a sub creo who is lighter and a little yellowish because he is kept in a lighter environment than his siblings.

If only it lasted to adult...
Here's a crappie cell phone pic of the mom and dad, they are clearly more green than almost any budwing except people that have my nymphs now or Kiet's, post more pics if you could Kan as they mature to prove my point. ;)

I know. I had some from Kiet too. Some were green at certain stages but none lasting into adult suggesting it's more random than genetic. He's been trying to keep them green through multiple generations too.

Some species are influenced by their surroundings. I haven't seen that in any of the species I've kept so that mechanism is likely tied to specific species only.

But it can't hurt to try.

Any pics of green budwings??? I have a few that are pretty green, but how green is green? I will take a picture tonight.and post. I hope they keep the color, as it is quite stunning.

If you have pics of green budwings, please share. :)
