To me,all those tricks with temp and humidity do not work...I believe the color of a mantis is given by the genes.
I second this. I kept several generations at the temp and humidity mentioned and never saw anything but normal dark males. If there is such a thing as green adult males I sure would love to see one. That would be really cool! I've seen a lighter brown one but that's it.

Mine are kept close to the temps, and humidity you are saying. In fact most of my females are green.

Are you saying you have had an adult male green ghost? I have yet to ever see one. Nymphs yes! Adults no!
I have had in the past 2 adult male green ghosts. I'm not of the kind that agrees that it is genetic. At least not fully.

I have seen green females turn brown on the final molt, and vis versa.

I'm not in any way saying that that genes are not the main thing, just that I'm sure that color can be manipulated to a degree.

Yeah, I too had light brown males. Btw, both green males I'm sure came from an ooth from you if I'm not mistaken.

If I knew they were so rare I would have taken pics.

All I can say is that if anyone had a spare ghost ooth or sub adults to spare, I'll buy them from you and I would be happy to test the ###### out of this and show results. :)

That sounds like something worth donating an ooth too. Unfortunately, I gave up the Ghosts months ago so someone step up and get this rolling.

Let me see...

A chance to make a fool of myself, and have fun doing it, sounds like I'll have to look into getting some.

I ran some tests a while ago with Ghosts. All in the same conditions,I had greens and browns...Some males were kinda green when subadult but never turned green when adult.

Pictures of an adult green Ghost would be great! :cowboy:

Hey by the way from my sources Phyllocrania and Gongylus are in fact very close species!!!!
