It is amazing that mantids that all came from the same ooth have all grown at different rates also different color range

This one grew up inside and is the biggest and brown in color

This one also grew up inside for a while but now lives outside alot skinny than the first and also has the floppy abd. I think it is getting ready to molt.

the

3rd and 4th pic is the same mantis grew up outside is bright ggreen and the smallest of them all didnt stop it though taking on a hopper that was huge compared to it.

The

last pic is also green and I found in the greenhouse today so has had no hand feeding it is bigger than the smallest but smaller than the biggest

So that my picture story on how they have all grown up so different

I'm jealous of your green string bean mantises. All my Chinese always go brown. The ones outside however always seem to go green even if from the same ooth.

Hmmm... I wonder if it's the extra sunlight, greener surroundings, humidity, or just random genetic chance?

im sure they adapt to whatever they're surroundings are, camouflage right? i have two Chinese from the same ooth; one is kept with a single branch while the second is kept with many twigs. i noticed the one with the twig forest turned very dark brown while the other stayed a tan.
