Thank you all for not waking me up with phone calls this morning! That's what family's for, right? Maybe I should start a private forum for them 
. We usually celebrate my birthday a bit early and my sister makes a desert for me, but never cake, exactly. Growing up, I just wanted donuts because they're the best desert ever. Boston cremes and bismarks are my favorites. Last year she made Black Forest cheesecake, as seen below.
So far, I'm enjoying an empty house. All the kids are with cousins and such, my wife is doing some grocery shopping and I'm barely awake yet. Drank some coffee, played two games of chess on a phone app and not sure where I'm headed next. When we pick up my daughter later, we're going to stop at a little street food cart and get some Salvadoran papusas.
