heating multiple mantids living in deli cups

i use that, only in the winter tho. in the ssummer theres no need of heathing.

also think about the way heat rises, and insulation to not lose the heat you create. if you do it right you can heat a fair amount of seperate cups with just a heat mat or just one bulb, even if they are not directly on the mat/lit by the bulb.

Yeah, like Mr. Blue said... If you put something like a board, or a metal pan on top of the heat mat, you can redistribute the heat over a larger area without necesarily increasing the heat source.

Why do you need to heat them? I have never used a heat source for any mantids. They do fine at normal room temperatures.

its usually warmer in america. the room temperature in huddersfield (were i live) is like 16c or summat around there

Well if youi keep your house freezing cold then yeah I guess you may need external heat. When it is cold here I still keep the house around 72.

I find 72 degrees too cold for some exotics.

yeh, i imagine also idolomantis, but i have not actually tried giving them that temperature so dont know for sure first hand. but then again i have no reason to try it.

You may try a space heater for the whole room. I would be careful with any basking bulb or spot lights in fixtures as they will really dry things out. Maybe a pad but I don't think that will work too well really.

Here's an idea. Get a large cookie sheet and paint the bottom of it black. Then, place it on a rack of some sort and have the light bulb underneath it. Then, on top of the cookie sheet, place your deli cups. I haven't tried this myself but I have done other similar things, like using a coffee mug warmer.
