Hi Everyone,
My name is Sarah and I live in a townhouse in Virginia. This past summer I tried to start a container garden on my deck with vegetable and herb plants. It turned out that I did not have much success with the vegetables, as apparently my deck gets too much shade, but not all was lost! While trying to keep it going, I did learn a lot about organic gardening, and made some unexpected discoveries in the process! Namely, several Carolina mantises who decided my plants were still nice enough to call their homes over the summer! As the summer went on, I found myself becoming more fascinated by the mantises then the garden itself, and very much enjoyed looking at them everyday, feeding them the bad insects in my garden, and watching them hunt and grow. Then one day I did an image search for them on Google, and I was surprised to find some amazingly stunning looking mantises, the kind I clearly wouldn't find in my backyard! Once I found out I could purchase some of them as pets, it was all over! Clearly, I got caught by the mantis bug badly, and 6 months later here I am owning 20 of my own mantises, and joining mantid forum! Great to meet the community, and I look forward to getting to know everyone!
