Hello,

Very surprised to find a forum dedicated to just mantids!

I currently have 4 different species: Tenodera sinensis, Mantis religiosa, Stagmomantis carolina & Hierodula majuscula.

I've been keeping these guys for about 6 months now, it's good to know a place like this exist.

Your welcome. There are several subspecies of Mantis religiosa. One subspecies lives in Poland but I have read that mantids went extinct there. It is Mantis religiosa polonica. The there are still Mantis religiosa polonica living in other areas. http://mantodea.speciesfile.org/Common/basic/Taxa.aspx?TaxonNameID=1671 I have read that the Mantis religiosa sinica live in China and other places. Here I think the "Notes" say that Mantis religiosa religiosa live in South Africa and Afghanistan and other places. Amazing eh? I read that Mantis religiosa siedleckii live in Indonesia. You can see a picture of an adult male here if you scroll down a bit, I guess it is from Indonesia because it says Indonesia. I found this just now. Welcome! I joined this forum not too long ago myself.

Mind if I ask you about your mantids' habits? I know Tenodera sinensis is too aggressive to keep communally... but how do Mantis religiosa and Stagmomantis carolina compare in terms of aggressiveness? Would they be quick to cannibalize each other if kept communally?
