I've loved all critters since I was a kid, if I could catch it, it usually came to live with us for a time. I'm 51 now, mother of 4, and one 8yr old granddaughter. I no longer work because of my health, and had to re home my dog - a 51# basset hound who has been living the past two years in Kansas with a childhood friend of mine. I've always been fasinated by mantids, I think they would not only be wonderful to watch , but easy for me to care for. My plan, is to learn as much as I can through this winter, then hopefully I will be ready for my first mantids in the spring. So, a lot of reading and lurking ?

So happy I found this forum

Welcome!  Mantids can be very easy to care for, especially as you gain experience and learn some of the "tricks" for easy feeder maintenance and feeding time routines.  Happy reading!

Hello Sherry and welcome to the forum

While preparing this winter, be sure to ask any questions you have along the way. :) Besides the forum content for help, Orin has published some great books on mantids. His "Keeping Aliens" is a great start, but his more involved "Keeping the Praying Mantis" covers more.
