Hello from NY!

Hello all!

I am an active insect keeper, and recently developed a love for mantids. This happened when I was walking and saw an adult mantis molting. Ever since I was young I loved insects. I would look for mantids, ants, anything cool I could find! Around 8 or so months ago I got interested in keeping ants. I've become bored, since they are currently hibernating. I decided to take my hand at mantis keeping. 

I am currently in the market for a mantis. I really love cool looking ones, such as the Ghost Mantis.

I hope to contribute to this community.

Welcome to the forum! You’ve definitely picked a really cool insect to keep. Mantids are much cooler than ants ?, and they aren’t too hard to keep either. The best part, is that mantids develop a personality. They actually begin to trust your hand, if you handle them often. All of mine are at a point now where I can just let them sit on my hand, and they’ll be there for hours while I’m working ?

a mantis is indeed the best insect to keep. A ghost mantis is a good starter mantis, but a hierdola membranacea too. Good luck with choosing your first mantis.
