Hello forum. Brand new to mantis keeping. Found a European nymph outside and am absolutely astonished by how intelligent this mantis is. After some research I made him a nice enclosure and have been feeding him ants(is this ok) and small flies. Of course I went ahead and bought some more(spiny flower and African mantis). And I'm wanting to get more. Crazy how I got addicted so fast!

Not sure how old, I caught him in the wild but he is around 4-5 cm so he is almost an adult(but no wings yet). He ate some ants but I took the rest out after reading about how ants can be deadly. I have a moth and fly in his enclosure but doesn't seem interested(he only wants to hang upside down, which I know is a sign of molting but he does this a lot without molting)

Welcome!  Hanging upside down is normal for most mantids for most of their lives I think. It seems to be the preferred spot to sit, regardless of molting.  He may just not be hungry yet, or the fly and moth aren't moving around enough to attract his attention.

Yeah seems like he likes the upside down stance. I just checked back on him and I saw the fly remnants so I guess he got hungry. He's been a pretty good eater for his small size. Pretty amazing
