Hello from WI

I live in southern WI. I've been searching for a wild mantis to keep as a pet for a few days now. Really any mantis will do. I've studied up quite a bit on methods of care, and I think I have a pretty good idea what to expect as well. However, I caught what I believed was a mantis today, but now I'm pretty sure it is not . Could I get some help identifying what this insect is? Thanks in advance.

Just google'd it; that's gotta be it! Wow, these things sound dangerous for how nonchalantly I went about handling it. I think I'm going to continue raising it though; it's intriguing that it will go after prey twice as big as itself! However, I won't give up on my mantis hunt; it will continue tomorrow.

Wow, that's a beautiful looking assassin bug! Where did you manage to catch that? On a bush or tree?
