Hi everyone,
I never did introduce myself when I first stumbled upon your forum in a panic. I am brand new to insect keeping having started only in march on a whim. Hubs and I went to an aquarium and reptile show and while there we first met the orchid mantises and phasmes-jungle nymphes. I was immediately enchanted after having been scared and disgusted by insects my whole life. Ended up going home with a pair of orchid mantises and a pair of jungle nymphes. They're all so amazing , that they've totally changed my relationship to insects. I guess that just shows how much of our fears are just fears of what we don't know. Because once I got to know them I came to love them. AMAZING creates, am I right? Anyway, so thankful that this forum exists as I've had a couple of scares with my girl and had no idea what to do. Thanks to all who share their wealth of experience and knowledge.

Ok so life got the best of me and I forgot the photos. But here they are. A couple are tiny bit blurry which makes me sad because they're awesome. But I'll be sure to post a good one too. So the orchid mantis is called Madame Orchidée after the opera Madame Butterfly. The Jungle nymph's are named similarly because my husband couldn't be bothered to be creative about the names for his pets , so he copied me and Madame Orchidée. Honestly they're supposed to be his but I'm the most interested in them and take care of them the most lol. So I kinda count them as mine.

So it says one is too big. I'm having this problem everywhere so I'm gonna ask my dh computer programmer to help me with it tonight and see if. I can't make this thing sendable . Works on fb but nowhere else.

That was such a cool video!! Thanks for sharing!! Any “exotic” mantids are illegal here in Canada so it’s always lovely to see them. Their names are super cute too, I’m not the best with names which is why my Chinese mantis is named “Mr. Bug Man” (MBM for short lol). Sending you and your mantids the best wishes!
