Ahhh, I’m so nervous!! Sherlock’s almost done and hanging by the very last bit of his thorax. It looked like he molted successfully! I’d send pictures but he’s shedding in a spot fairly awkward for the camera and I feel like letting him shed in peace is a lot better than moving around the enclosure to get a better view.
:0!!!! As I’m typing this he just finished!!! Like he just removed his thorax from his shed and grabbed onto a nearby flower. He’s so much bigger now!!! I might have to get him a bigger enclosure soon.
you know, I noticed with Hierodula Majuscula, or, at least with my two mantids, the red parts of their raptorial legs aren’t there right after they shed. Rather, only when the exoskeleton dully dries up does the red show. It’s pretty cool!
From the looks of it, they also loose little stripes on their thoraxes at L5.
