ID on Found Baby Mantid

My daughter found a baby praying mantis and we have been keeping it and feeding it flightless fruit flies. It just molted and went from a reddish brown to more of a light green with brown accents. I have included photos in the hopes that someone can help me ID the kind of mantid we have.

The kids wanted me to let you know that we have named it Kip.

We are located in southern Ohio. And can anyone tell if it is a male or female?

It's too young to accurately tell yet. After one or two more molts you could post a picture showing all abdominal segments on the underside.

I would say it is a Carolina mantis, as Chinese mantises don't have the little bit of brown coloring on the legs near the knee joints.
