Ok. This is a very common species of mantis in my region(Central Valley, CA). They are smaller than the European mantis and although not as noticeable are much more common. They like hanging out right around flowers to snag butterflies(fiery skippers in most areas). They are uniform green all over with no distinguishing markings. Here are a few photos. Fiesty little buggers too!
