I found this fellow outside on my front door this morning, just hanging out and eating some of the insects that were attracted to the light on the front porch. I'm not familiar with the wild species here in southern Texas and I was hoping someone could tell me what species he is.

He's an adult male, about 2.5" long.

He looks like a Stagmomantis Carolina to me, definitely in the stagmomantis variety. The Carolina is the most prevalent here in Oklahoma based on my observations.

Stagmomantis species. Not sure exactly which you have there.

I can also see a slight paling near the edge on the left side. Tell me, is there a creamy colored stripe down the side of the wing?

It looks Carolina to me as well, male Carolina are also 2.5 inches in length and can come in a very wide variety of colors/patterns.

Wow just realized that because I said "cool pic" I accidentally revived this ancient thread and everybody thought it was active because of that. Rotfl.
