One of my shield mantis molted and one of its back legs is still in the skin. I wondered why it was hanging around its skin..apparently its skin is hanging around it. 3/4 of the leg is out. I sprayed it with a little water and had a gentle tug o war but no luck. What next?

L4/5 it is

If it wont be removed, either the mantis will correct itself and chew the piece of leg off that wont be removed or you can remove it yourself but your mantis will not like it. Your mantis may not form its whole leg back in two molts but there will be a difference. Its tarsus will reform though.

It certainly didn't stop it from running after fruit flies. Its only about 1/16 to 1/8 of the end of the leg. Now I've kept some skins from other mantis and they dry up and crumble. Is that a possibility here?
