I have a first ootheca from the female Ghost Mantid. She ate her mate after they lived together a week - hopefully they mated in that time.

Anyway, I'm incubating the ooth in a quart sized plastic box with moist peat in bottom (to stabilize the twig it's on and keep the humidity high) but I'm curious how long it will take before it hatches if it's fertile, the ooth is roughly 1-2 weeks old now.

Where do you keep all the babies? From hatching Chinese nymphs before I know Mantids are a quite uncontrollable horde when they are ant sized. Even though ghosts don't have as many babies 10 - 30 would still be a lot to contend with at once when they're running in all directions so any pointers on this would be appreciated. I want to raise them a little while to get them healthy and hardy before sending them off to friends who've seen mine and want to try and keep them as well.
