4 of my Chinese females have layed oothecae so far. I sure that they are all infertile because no mating took place. One of the females was connected for like a minute. All of the oothecae look nothing like the nice ooths that the mantids hatched out from. Are infertile oothecae always deformed with this species, or am I doing something wrong with the mantid's care?

I've never noticed any difference. I've had deformed ooths from mated females.
