So earlier this week I went out on a hike in the woods to collect insects. My newest insect is a tiger beetle that i caught while there. The tiger beetle is different from the ones there because instead of flying when I came to catch it it just tried to run away. It has been feeding on crickets and meal worms. I was wondering if it was a female because of the fact it won't fly and itw abdomen was fat. Also it digs holes in the sand, goes inside, comes out, and then buries it. Is it egg-laying?

No, that isn't egg laying. They dig burrows to spend the night in. If you see her sticking the tip of her abdomen into the substrate and pulsating, then she's ovipositing.

You might want to consider putting an incandescent lightbulb over her cage. She will behave more naturally and will be more likely to lay eggs. This does, however, mean you should most the substrate at least twice a day so it doesn't dry out.
