Is my mantis a male or female?

Hello! My friend who gave me this mantis as a gift told me I should ask here what sex it was. For a long time I thought it was a female, because I read females have 6 segments on the underside of their abdomen, and males have 8. Well, I didn't know you were supposed to include the little butt-tip ad the very end, so technically I guess it's 7!

If necessary, I will rty getting some more pics with better lighting tomorrow, unless anyone can tell by looking at him/her what the sex is.
